Investment Pieces
These items are so perfect and basic you’ll wear them for years to come. (And if you call them “investment pieces” it sounds far less frivolous.)
Mulberry Black Leather Bayswater Bag, $995.00
L Frank Gold and Diamond Stacked Ring, $1,298.00
Tsubi Lean Bean Jeans, $265.00
Dolce & Gabanna Woven Evening Sandals, $535.00

Faux pas no more
I’m not one for rules but stockings and open toe shoes used to be a pretty nasty faux pas. However, a thick stocking with an open toe wedge or a sleek opaque tight with a peep toe pump is looking just right for right now. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a few guidelines left.
Hint: nude stockings with open toe shoes are never to be donned. That goes for nude stockings in general—unless you enjoy mahjong and shuffleboard. And plain old open toes and bare legs in bitter cold may as well be bull’s eye on a fashion victim. Always enjoy the winter weather in style!
The fall 2007 looks from Thakoon, Bottega Veneta, and Marni.
Yawn
I am so bored with Oscar fashion that I might actually fall asleep while writing this blog. Below is all I could muster for my “Best Dressed” picks.
Keisha Whitaker in Georges Chakra
What I might have worn if invited…Valentino.
*On the upside you should all know that I won my Oscar party pool and I am giving up the blog to bet on the oscars full-time. Yes, full time!
MARNI!!!
Marni’s fall 2007 collection has arrived with all the talent and inspiration Consuelo Castiglioni brings to her designs again and again. She also continues to prove herself the master of layers so unique and irreverent they read like a brilliant allegory. In this collection, techno fabrics, sporty windbreakers, and utilitarian belts peaked out from beneath luxurious furs and feathers. Her combinations are intoxicating, fashion forward, yet never take themselves too seriously. Can you tell I’m a fan?
Obsessed with…
Rompers! What could be sexier or more comfortable than these one-piece delicacies? Wear them around the house, in the bedroom, or out to get the morning paper. (Well Nicole Richie does it.)
Dessous by Sophie Simmons “Antonia” Romper, $194.00
Hands Free
Perhaps it’s the comfort of having both hands free when I slip on ice and fall but I am loving designer messenger bags right now! Pretty satchels and oversized totes are still delightful but sometimes you need to relax and embrace the practicality of having hands free to push a baby carriage, carry the dry cleaning, or leisurely hold your two best vices: coffee and a cigarette.
Miu Miu Spring Satchel, $865.00
All that glitters is miu miu
Miu Miu Silver and Gold Pumps, $474.00
I just tried these on at Barney’s and they are SO HOT! Especially with black tights.
Miu Miu Silver Lurex Clutch, $185.00
The perfect touch of glitter for summer nights.
To Boot
Fall, winter, and many purchases later I am still searching for that perfect boot to complete my collection.
Belle by Sigerson Morrison Boots, $400.00
Dolce and Gabbana Boots with Button Detailing, $1,096.00
The groundhog saw its shadow
I’m sorry, but I have given up on winter dressing. I wear the same thing everyday, throw a big coat over it, and try not to see anyone. I’ve turned my thoughts to candy colored jeans (I am craving pink jeans but have yet to find a pair), petite shoulder bags, show-stopping sandals, and demure dresses for summer. Of course I’ll be screaming uncle when the heat comes, but that doesn’t make the shopping any less enjoyable!
Rich and Skinny Faded Turquoise Jeans, $178.00
Paul and Joe Sister Dress, $175.00
A slimmed down version of the classic Vans slip-on: Vans KVD Slip-on, 40.95
Rebecca Taylor Jumper, $284.00
